Bermuda Brokers Return to Rendez-Vous de Septembre 2024
We’re excited to announce that our team, including CEO Hugh O’Donnell and Chief Reinsurance Broking Officer Neil Hitchcock, will be attending the 66th Rendez-Vous de Septembre in Monte Carlo from the 7th to 11th of September. Established back in 1957, the RVS has served as the industry’s most significant event for insurance and reinsurance professionals to network and negotiate ahead of renewal season. At this year’s conference, we are looking forward to once again connecting with industry leaders, gaining and sharing valuable insights into emerging trends, and exploring new opportunities to meet the evolving needs of our clients.
One of the key topics that Hugh is interested in delving into at RVS is Intellectual Property Collateral Protection (IPCP) insurance – a keen interest for Hugh in recent years and one that he has discussed at several conferences.
IPCP insurance enables companies, whose assets are concentrated in intellectual property, to secure funding without diluting equity.
While this gained traction in Bermuda, recent large losses have been reported and market capacity has withdrawn. Bermuda Brokers believes the potential benefits of IPCP – if structured correctly – continue to make it a promising avenue for companies seeking to fuel growth and innovation, for lenders looking to work with insurers and for insurers looking for new sources of income.
